March 1, 1932 - September 15, 2023
Beloved wife of Richard P. Russo and loving mother to David, Cary, Kathryn Voorhees and Elisabeth Pritchard.
Jill was born and raised in Buffalo New York. She grew up watching her father, Charles Hahn, transform a small shoe store into the first Department store in Buffalo, known as Sattlers. She inherited her father’s strength and determination and paved new paths in her life as well. After raising 4 children in Buffalo, Jill moved to a rustic coastline in Big Sur California. There she proceeded to break ground in building a unique and artistic home perched right on the edge of the continent. She was a pioneer with an adventurous spirit.
Jill had an artistic touch with everything she did. She knitted, cooked, gardened, made soap, and shared creative expressions with Richard throughout their home and property.
Jill was passionate about animals, any kind of animal. She was the guardian of dogs, pigs, mules, chickens, a cockatiel, Guinea Hens, and even a racoon and a skunk. She loved them all.
Jill is the proud grandmother of 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Her late brother “Jack” Hahn and his children have always been an important part of her family. The late Charles Hahn Jr., Holly Hahn-Baker and Erik Hahn.
We love you mom/Jill, and we are so grateful for the length of time you were able to be with us. We will miss your wit and laughter. Fly on and peace be with you.
Donations in memory of Jill can be made at any SPCA.
