Ellen Elizabeth Wells

Ellen Elizabeth Wells died on February 8, 2017. Ellen was born October 9, 1962, in San Jose, California . Ellen was the oldest of two children, whose parents were Maxine “Maggie” Frank Moore and Benjamin Wells. Ellen was also the step-daughter of Jack Moore for 41 years. Ellen graduated from the University of California at Santa Cruz. After college, Ellen lived in Petrolia, California, attended many Grateful Dead shows, and then moved to Ashland, Oregon. Ellen met Joseph “Raj” Lukauskas in Ashland at the Food Co-op. They spent twenty five years of their lives together, building and running their business, Elan Beads. Ellen and Raj traveled extensively for their work, both within the United States and internationally. They shared a love of creativity, art, and the ocean, spending as much time as they could at their second home in Waldport, Oregon. In January 2017, Ellen became ill with sepsis, and passed away soon thereafter. The family would like to extend their thanks and heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Rogue Regional Medical Center. Ellen is survived by her partner, Joseph “Raj” Lukauskas, of Ashland; her father, Benjamin Wells of Emeryville, California; her step-father, Jack Moore, of Tumwater, Washington; her brother Steven Wells (Julia), of Sandy, Oregon; her stepsisters , Jamie Moore (Bill) and Deborah Moore (Gary) of Olympia, Washington, and Willow Moore of La Center, Washington; and nieces and nephews Karina, Tabitha, Jackson, Melody, Phillip, Victor, Jessica, Luara, Rayne, Katherine, Lee, Sebastian, Isabel, Maija, Evan, and Vanessa. Ellen was preceded in death by her mother, Maggie. A Celebration of Life is expected to be scheduled at a later date.
