She was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Tye, Sr.; parents, George Cary Farrar, Sr. and Nellie Parker Kidd Farrar; son, Stephen Craig Tye; son-in-law, Neal Currin McKissick; brothers, George Cary Farrar, Jr., and Walter Grayson Farrar; and sister, Barbara Farrar Wilkinson.
Nellie was a longtime member of Broadus Memorial Baptist Church, and more recently, Truth Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, John E. Tye, Jr. (Cora), Earl W. Tye (Leslie), Sharon T. Burcham (Chic), Alison T. McKissick and Mary T. Nelson (Steve); 10 grandchildren, one great grandchild; sister Mary F. Wright; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A service will be held at Woody Funeral Home - Atlee Chapel, 9271 Shady Grove Road, Mechanicsville, VA, 23116 on Monday, December 23rd at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of her son, Stephen Craig Tye, may be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
