Mildred was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 3, 1927 the daughter of Mary and Richard Gallagher. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Robert H. Morrison.
Mom was a busy Navy wife raising eight children, enjoying hobbies, and spearheading moves whenever Bob was transferred. After raising her family, she went to work as an Executive Assistant for Commonwealth Capital Management until her retirement at 66.
She was an active member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and took care of cleaning the Altar linens for many years. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, cross stitch, jigsaw puzzles, snuggling babies, and a good bowl of ice cream. Mildred loved traveling especially if it involved a casino or a stay at the Greenbrier.
Above all, she loved spending time with her children and their families. Summer vacations were spent visiting relatives and going to the Outer Banks. We have many traditions and her most treasured was the family gathering around her table for five o’clock Sunday Dinner.
She is survived by her children Carol Bateman (David), R.J. Morrison (Barbara), Don Morrison (Kit), Kathy Terrell (Steve), Elizabeth Bentley (Gregg), Mary Rose (Jim), Janice Sargent and Jeannie Smith. Mildred was blessed with many grandchildren Jessica Smith (Ross), Sam Bateman (Danielle), Jennifer and Greg Morrison (Karen), Melody, Matthew (Sonja) and Meredith Morrison, Aubrey (Valerie) Brown III, Casey Kenyon Brown (Alan), Sam Bentley, Braxton Rose, Jamie Tate, Millie, Rose (Chase), Richie, Maddox and Ally Sargent, Julia and Janie Smith. She had great-grandchildren Addison, Aubrey and Brayleigh Brown, Dean Smith, David Bateman and Richie, Jake, Harrison, Maiden, Violet and Scarlett Sargent.
