Michael Gordon Holland, 46, passed away at his home and went to be with the Lord on March 6, 2019. He was joined in the loving arms of his mother, Glenda B. Holland, who predeceased him in death in 1990. Left to cherish his memory are his father, C. Eddie Holland of Portsmouth, Va.; aunts, Ellen H. Williams of Virginia Beach and Sarah Jane Byrum of Chesapeake, Va.; and many cousins, to include: John R. Williams (Jodi) of Gates, NC, their children, Lily and Reece; Ashley Williams (Ashley Williamson) of Virginia Beach, their children, Logan and Lola; Brad Byrum (Denise), their children, Meredith Byrum and Jason Byrum (Lafeetah), and son, Avery, and Casey Byrum, and son, Mason; Matt Byrum (Cheryl), their daughter, Caitlin; Gary Byrum (Terri), their children, Morgan Myrick (Lake), their daughter Lillian, and Rebecca Byrum, son Kristopher; Allison Palmer; Katie Simmons; Stewart Tyler, his children, Joey and Robbie; Lynn Tyler (Patricia), their children, Taylor and Leslie.
Michael was employed for over 20 years with State Corporation Commission in Richmond. He graduated from Longwood and later earned his CPA.
Mike was an Eagle Scout in The Boy Scouts of America and an avid golfer. He also enjoyed multiple types of sports. Mike was a HUGE fan of the Washington Redskins.
The family would like to thank Mike’s longtime college friend, Julie Camus, for her wonderful assistance during his recent illness, as well as helping him through his undertakings during their long years of friendship.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the United Cerebral Palsy Association, The American Heart Association, and/or The American Diabetes Association.
A memorial service will be held at on Saturday, March 23, 2019, at 2:30 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home – Atlee Chapel, 9271 Shady Grove Road, Mechanicsville, Va. 23116.
