He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Pollard; parents, Roberta Pollard and James Puller Pollard Sr.
Jim is survived by his son, Daniel Pollard; brother, Ellett Pollard (Stephanie) and their son, Christopher “Chris"; and grandchildren, Cameron and Brody Pollard.
Jim grew up in King William County, Va. on his parent’s farm. After graduation from King William High School, Jim attended Virginia Tech where he earned his degree in Civil Engineering. He then worked at several consulting firms creating structural designs for office buildings and several large buildings for a few Virginia colleges. During these early work years, he completed the requirements and testing to obtain his Professional Engineering License. Jim then joined Dominion Energy’s engineering department where he spent the remainder of his career. He was one of the small team of engineers qualified to deliver structural engineering solutions for the two nuclear power plants in Virginia.
He was a man who found great joy in nature, Jim spent much of his time with his sons, brother, friends and later grandchildren hunting, fishing, boating, sailing, and hiking. He enjoyed dancing and in his younger years had a passion for flying and piloting small aircraft. Many can also attest his love for a great cuisine.
He served in the United States Army Reserves and carried with him the values of integrity, commitment, and quiet strength throughout his life. He was also an avid traveler, having visited over 20 countries in his lifetime. Whether exploring new cultures, simply enjoying the beauty of a sunrise over still water, or riding backroads on motorcycles with his brother, he lived each day with purpose and curiosity.
