It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Albert Snyder II, age 65, on August 26, 2023, in Richmond, Virginia. He left this world surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on September 2, 1957, Jack was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His life was a testament to strength, kindness, and unwavering love.

Throughout his life, Jack was known for his dedication and service to our nation. He proudly served as a Major in the United States Army for 16 years, demonstrating exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to his fellow soldiers and country. Among his decorations was a Bronze Star, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, and the Ranger Tab.

Upon his retirement from the military, Jack continued his life of service. He was a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones, where he loved to serve his clients and do what was best for them. For the last 28 years, he served his clients with the same integrity, discipline, dedication, and honor that defined his military career.

Jack was a family man through and through. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, and his greatest joy was being a husband and father. He will be remembered for his belly laughs, infectious smile, quick wit, golf swing, and love of bolognese, but mostly for the unconditional love he showed to all.

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty, his children, Catherine, Elizabeth, Jackson, and Eleanor Rose, along with their partners, AJ and Kimberly, his grandchildren, Harrison Jack and Cameron, and his siblings, Willie and Penny. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack, mother, Eleanor, and brother, Randy.

Join the family for a Celebration of Jack’s Life on Saturday, September 9th at 12pm at St. Margaret’s School in Tappahannock, Virginia. A Visitation service will be held at Woody Funeral Home on Friday, September 8th from 4-7pm in Mechanicsville, Virginia. To honor Jack’s fun-loving spirit, we invite everyone to dress casually and comfortably. Let's celebrate his memory in the same lighthearted and joyful way he lived his life.

A funeral service with full military honors for Jack will be held at Fort Myer Old Post Chapel 24 Arlington Ave, Fort Myer, VA 22211 on Monday, April 15, 2024 at 11am with interment following in Arlington National Cemetery .

Jack touched the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and strength. His memory will forever be cherished in our hearts.
