George Swift Williams Jr.

George Swift Williams Jr., age 92 passed away on Monday, May 29, 2023. He was born in Athens, GA, and eventually made Richmond, VA his permanent home during the 1960s, leading a fulfilling life. Having served in the U.S. Army, he pursued higher education and obtained a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Virginia. He later retired as a teacher from Henrico County Public Schools and actively participated as a member of First Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia. He had a compassionate spirit, was a loyal companion, and an embodiment of true Southern gentility.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Martha O'Kelly Williams Robertson and George Swift Williams, Sr., and sister Caroline Williams Cooper. He is survived by his loving children; George S. Williams, III and Martha W. Rekni (Ismail) and his cherished grandchildren; Justin Williams, Adham Rekni and Adel Rekni.

Relatives and friends are invited to Swift's visitation at Woody Funeral Home-Atlee Chapel, 9271 Shady Grove Rd., Mechanicsville, VA, on Tuesday, June 6, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and where a Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 7, at 11 AM. A reception will follow in the funeral home reception hall. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Drexel-Morrell Center of Powhatan, VA, drexelmorrell.org.
