Charles Gilbert Dougherty, 20, of Mechanicsville, passed away April 5, 2012. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Charles A. Dougherty and his great grandparents, Dorothy and Thomas J. Scheibelhut.
He is survived by his parents, John and Pam Dougherty, his sisters, Alicia Wolf and her husband Derek, Kristin, and Lauren Dougherty, his nieces Adison and Kendall Wolf, grandparents, Gilbert and Dorothy Scheibelhut, Anna and Victor Michener, and many aunts, uncles and cousins from both sides of the family.
Charles graduated from Hanover High School in 2010 and went on to study at George Mason University and Virginia Commonwealth University. In his free time he loved to go bowling, play soccer, work out at Burkwood, and hang out with his friends and family. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. He cared so much for those around him, always offering his support and kindness. He could cheer anyone up with his great big bear hugs and kind smile. Charles lived to help others.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 3 to 6pm, on Tuesday, April 10th, at Church of The Redeemer, 8275 Meadowbridge Rd, with a Funeral Mass following at 7pm. Interment will be private.
