Anne was born in Bluefield, WV, on May 31, 1947 to Mayble and Otis King. She graduated from Queen's College in Charlotte, NC with a degree in chemistry and attended graduate school at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA.
Anne joined NASA Langley Research Center as a research scientist. She spent her career at NASA developing new high-temperature polymers for use in space exploration. She was a highly respected scientist. She was the recipient of numerous awards for her work, including two NASA Medals of Scientific Achievement, two NASA Invention of the Year awards, two R&D 100 awards, and the H. J. E. Reid Award for best technical paper.
In addition to her work at NASA, Anne was also a passionate advocate for people struggling with medical issues, inspired by her mother and father’s work in the medical profession. She was also a member of the Restoration Church in Mechanicsville, VA where she was active with her many friends in Bible study.
Anne was preceded in death by her mother and father as well as her sister, Gayle Blankenship. Anne was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Terry St. Clair, her son, Tyler St. Clair, her brother, Otis Gardner King Jr. and his wife Rose King, as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 1:30pm on Friday, June 16, 2023 at Woody Funeral Home, 9271 Shady Grove Rd., Mechanicsville, VA 23116 where a memorial service will begin at 1:30pm.
