Alice Margaret Petko

Alice Margaret Petko, age 98 passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, May 31, 2023. Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lawrence Petko to whom she was married to for 53 years and her son, Lawrence Joseph Petko. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Nancy Petko Mertel, her husband, Robert Joe Norris and her devoted canine companion, Katie of Powhatan, Virginia.

Alice loved her family, friends, traveling the world with her husband, gardening at her lovely home and baking her world famous Chocolate Roll. She had a Master's Degree in Education Administration. She was an elementary school teacher who went on to become the Principle of Nixon School in Landing, New Jersey. Alice leaves behind family and many friends who will miss her warm smile, quick wit, sage advice and of course, her Chocolate Roll.

A visitation for Alice will be held Wednesday, June 7, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Woody Funeral Home-Atlee Chapel, 9271 Shady Grove Road, Mechanicsville, Va. 23116.

A graveside service will occur Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 11:00 am to 11:30 am at Signal Hill Memorial Park, 12360 Hanover Courthouse Rd., Hanover, Va. 23069.
