Shanda L. Houghton

Shanda was born on August 3, 1965 to Edward and Judy (Lynch) Vining in Pueblo, Colorado. She was a longtime resident of Moody, Texas. She married the love of her life, Gary Houghton on May 17, 1985. In Belton, Texas. Shanda worked with Moody ISD as a cafeteria manager for 27 years. She wore many hats while working in Moody including bus driver, cheer sponsor, was Grammy to all of “her kids” and a volunteer first responder for Moody EMS for many years. Shanda enjoyed playing the slot machines at the WinStar Casino in Oklahoma. Most of all, she enjoyed her grandchildren and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Gary Houghton of Moody; sons, Corey Houghton and wife, Ashley of Moody, Gavin Houghton and wife, Bethany of Moody, and Tyler Houghton and wife, Jennifer of Moody; grandchildren: Emma Houghton, Wynne Houghton, Syndnee Houghton, Walker Houghton, Ava Houghton, Westyn Houghton, and Tucker Houghton; mother, Judy Carter of Moody, and step-father James Carter of Moody; sister, Lori Stanton of Temple; brothers, Eddie Vining and wife, Tina of Utah, Greg Vining of Temple, and Richard Vining; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
