Rosa Lee Zacharias of Oglesby died Sunday afternoon, January 16, 2011, at the age of 79. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 21, 2011, at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Walter Klockers officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul Memorial Park, under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Cole Funeral Home.
Mrs. Zacharias was born December 15, 1931, in Coryell City, Texas the daughter of the late Otto and Minnie (Rodenbeck) Richter. She begin her education in Coryell City and was salutatorian of her 1949 graduating class of Gatesville High School. She continued her education at a business school in Dallas. She returned to the area and began working at the National bank in Gatesville for a few years. On August 18, 1951, she married Daniel Otto “Donnie” Zacharias at St. John Lutheran Church in Coryell City. After forty-eight years of marriage, he preceded her in death on July 28, 2000. From 1965 to 1970, she was employed by Farmland Co-op in Gatesville. In 1970, she returned to the National Bank as a teller and retired in 1997 after being employed in customer service.
She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Naomi Circle and held various offices as well as president. She enjoyed volunteering at Coryell Memorial Hospital, cooking, playing dominoes and supporting her grandchildren with their sporting events and school activities.
Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Janie Leos; a sister, Ella Richter; two brothers, Lonnie Richter, Herman Richter; three grandchildren, Mathew, Mark and Mary Elizabeth.
Survivors include, a son Kyle Don Zacharias and wife Sherri of West; two daughters, Darlene Arp and husband Terry, Regenia Arseneaux and husband Kerry both of McGregor; nine grandchildren, Lanie Martinez and husband Nieves, Danny Wehrmann, Robert Wehrmann, Travis Arp, Amber Arseneaux, Tyler Arp, Kristy Arseneaux, Richard Zacharias and Rachael Zacharias; a son-in-law, Manuel Leos and numerous step-grandchildren
