Mike Aycock of Belton passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013, at the age of 40. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at College Avenue Baptist Church, 201 South Monroe St. McGregor, Texas with Rev. David Thompson and Chaplain Alvin Dillard officiating. Interment will follow in McGregor Cemetery under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at College Avenue Baptist Church.
Mike was born December 6, 1972, in Corsicana, Texas, the son of Jimmy and Sherrie (Franklin) Aycock. He was a 1991 graduate of Temple High School and continued his education at Temple College and Central Texas Regional Police Academy in Bell County.
On May 16, 1998, he married the former Angela Spradley in McGregor and moved to Belton in1999 from Temple. Much of his life was spent as a police officer in Mart, McGregor, Hewitt and the last fourteen years in Killeen. He was awarded many awards and certificates for his excellent service and had achieved a Masters Peace Officer Level. Throughout his life he enjoyed fishing, hunting, coached little league baseball and enjoyed watching all types of sports.
Survivors include his wife Angela of Belton; a son Dalton Aycock of Belton; a daughter, Dakota Aycock of Belton; a sister, Cristi Cleveland and her husband Chris of Cockrell Hill; his parents, Jimmy and Sherrie Aycock of Gatesville; paternal grandmother, Bernice Aycock of Gatesville; Maternal grandmother, Margie Franklin of Mart; a nephew, Brian McGuire of Gatesville.
