Mary Irene Hodel

Mary Irene Hodel, 103 of Crawford, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023 in Lakeside, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Crawford Cemetery in Crawford, Texas with The Reverend Ron Miller officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 6, 2023 at Cole Funeral Home in McGregor.

Mary was the daughter of Frank and Pauline (Rosenbaum) Hodel. She was a lifelong resident of Crawford and graduated from Crawford High School in 1939. Mary was a lifelong member of Canaan Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and took great pride in her home. Mary was a caregiver for family and friends. Mary and her twin sister were honored as Grand Marshalls for the Tonkawa Traditions Parade in Crawford in 2002. She was also Grand Marshall of Crawford’s 150th Anniversary Parade in 2017.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brother, Franklin Hodel; sister, Martha Hodel.

Survivors include her nephew, Ronnie Hodel and wife, Dana of Erie, Colorado; niece, Laura Ann Giles and her husband, Tommy of Fort Worth; four great-nieces and nephews; and five great-great-nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Canaan Baptist Church or Crawford Cemetery Association.
