Kenneth Dixon, a Moody native and resident of Anna, died suddenly Tuesday afternoon, May 3, 2011, at the age of 74. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, May 9, 2011, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor with Rev. Mickey Fugitt officiating. Interment will follow in Moody Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday at Cole Funeral Home.
Mr. Dixon was born July 11, 1936, in Moody, Texas, the son of the late John Carroll and Georgia Belle (Shamblin) Dixon. He was a 1955 graduate of Moody High School and earned a bachelor of business administration degree in marketing from Texas Christian University in 1959. The avid Horned Frog supporter participated in football and track and field events.
On June 3, 1956, he married Jean Carol Jelinek at his parent’s home in Fort Worth, Texas. In 1958 he moved from Fort Worth to Dallas. As a child, he was known as “tinsey” by his family. This was due to his small stature. However; in later years while working at International Harvester as a packer, he earned the nick name of “lightnin’ ”, perhaps for his fast movements. Upon his retirement, he devoted thirty years to his profession. In 1971 he moved his family to Anna where he was a volunteer fireman. Throughout his life he enjoyed camping at Blue River, Oklahoma, fishing, shopping, visiting with family and barbeques.
Also preceding him in death was a son, Dennis Charles Dixon who died April 5, 1966.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-four years, Jean Dixon; two sons, Bruce Wayne Dixon of Anna, Monte Ray Dixon and wife Linda of Whitewright; a daughter Donna Badgett and husband Harold of Dallas; four grandchildren and two great grandchilden.
