Juanita P. Campos of Moody passed away peacefully, May 24, 2010, after a short illness in the comfort of her daughter’s home at the age of 88. At the time of her death, she was surrounded by her immediate family including her husband of 70 years, Frank A. Campos. Graveside services and interment will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple, under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor. There will not be a formal visitation, however viewing will begin after 10:00 A.M. Tuesday.
Juanita was born February 2, 1922, in Crystal City, Texas, the daughter of the late Maximino and Teresa (Pesina) Palomo. In 1929, the family moved to McGregor, Texas where she met Frank Campos. On January 29, 1940, they were united in marriage in Belton, Texas. Following the marriage, they immediately moved to Moody where they built their home and have resided ever since.
Juanita was a guideless pleasant homemaker who enjoyed embroidering, crocheting, gardening and working with her flowers. Juanita was everyone’s friend, a loving and devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grand mother and great, great-grandmother.
Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Bea Carter of Moody, a sister, Sabina Acosta of McGregor; and a brother, Antonio “Tony” Palomo of Plainview.
Those left to cherish her memories are her husband Frank A. Campos; a son, Eswell (Gayle) Campos of Moody; a daughter, Fran and husband Mike Rodriquez of Moody; seven grandchildren Misty Dawn DeShazo, Julianne Campos, Shawnrey Campos, Shane Campos, Jennifer Phillips, Crystal Marie Hennig, Michael Rodriquez, eleven great grandchildren, Brandon Campos, Austin Young, Jet DeShazo, Sheba, T.J., Sunnyrey, Ashley, Regan and Ryan Phillips, Sophia and Hayleigh Hennig and two great great grandchildren, Zoey and Sofia.
The family expresses their sincere appreciation to Scott & White Hospice, especially Kim, Sheila, Lucy as well as the social worker, Teresa and Chaplain Judy for their kindness and care of Juanita during her illness.
For those desiring, the family has suggested the cancer foundation of the donor’s own choosing, for memorial contributions.
Honorary casketbearers will be Charlie Bob Eakin and Antonio Vega.
