Jerry D. Hargrove, 77, of Moody, passed away at home on Tuesday, December 5, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 9, at the First Baptist Church at 300 Avenue E in Moody with Dr. Tom Shelton officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 8, at the Moody Cole Funeral Home Chapel at 304 8th Street.
Jerry was born on December 10, 1939, at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco. He graduated from Bruceville-Eddy High School in 1958, and, after a 13 year career at KCEN TV, went on to complete his B.S. in Education from Mary Hardin Baylor University, and his Master's Degree from Texas A&M University. During his 25 years in the educational field, he impacted the lives of many as a coach, a teacher, and as an administrator.
Married to Joan Goode, of Moody, since 1960, Jerry enjoyed traveling in his motor home, playing golf and dominos, watching sports, and was a loving father to three children and six grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, F.L. and Cleo Day Hargrove, and his brother, C.L. "Buddy" Hargrove. Survivors include his wife, Joan; sister, Peggy Stewart, of Bruceville, Texas; daughters Janet Miller and husband, Mike, of Villa Hills, Kentucky, and Dana Hargrove of Pflugerville, Texas; son, Scott Hargrove and wife, Amy, of Round Rock, Texas; and grandchildren, Josh, Matt, and Lauren Miller, Loren Torres, and Wyatt and Emory Hargrove.
