Jene Nelson

Jene Nelson, a long time Crawford resident, died Tuesday morning, June 4, 2013, at the age of 84. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 7, 2013, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor with Rev. Chad Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in Crawford Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Cole Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nelson was born July 24, 1928, in Waco, Texas, the daughter of the late Eddie and Dollie Ruth (Allen) Nelson and was a 1947 graduate of McGregor High School. From 1948 until her 1990 retirement, she was employed by R.E. Cox and Company in Waco as a cashier in their office.

During the war, she moved to Crawford where she made her home and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, joining in 1938 at the age of ten.

Survivors include a son Larry Nelson of Crawford.
