Mr. Harry Witt, age 93 of McGregor, passed away Friday, Oct. 7, 2016 in Waco, surrounded by his family. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, at Cole Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 10:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in McGregor with Reverend Christine Farrow officiating. Interment will follow in McGregor Cemetery.
Mr. Witt was born July 29, 1923 to Fred and Emma (Wiethorn) Witt in Coryell County, Texas.
He was a longtime resident of McGregor and a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Harry owned and operated his own service station for 40 years in McGregor. He married the love of life, Hilda Richter on Sept. 1, 1946. Mr. Witt enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing 42 and spending time at the Farm Center in the early mornings. He was active in the Farm Bureau and Sons of Herman. Harry and Hilda were involved with meals on wheels. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Emma Witt; brother, David Witt.
Mr. Witt leaves behind his wife of 70 years, Hilda Witt of McGregor; daughter, Geraldine Palmer and husband, Ed of Jackson, Tennessee; son, Larry Witt of McGregor; grandchildren:
Kathryn Pittman and husband, Michael and “Trey” Palmer; great-grandchildren: Samuel Pittman, Thomas Palmer, Jacob Palmer, and Daniel Palmer.
