Fannie Nelson of Crawford died Friday, January 4, 2013, at the age of 91. Graveside services and interment will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at Crawford Cemetery with Rev. Rich Lubbers officiating, under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor. Visitation will be 7 to 9 P.M. Monday at Cole Funeral Home.
Mrs. Nelson was born July 26, 1921, in Oglesby, Texas, the daughter of the late Filander and Mattie Jane (Daniells) Keenam, where she attended school. On June 2, 1944, she married Charlie William Walter in Gatesville. After only seven years of marriage, he preceded her in death March 11, 1952. On September 24, 1952, she married Christian August Nelson in Crawford. After twenty-seven years of marriage, he preceded her in death April 25, 1980.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Crawford. However, more recently, she enjoyed playing dominos and bingo at Westview Manor Nursing Home where she also enjoyed the worship services, singing and greeting people.
Also preceding here in death was a brother, Alfred Daniells and a stepdaughter, Barbara Tovar.
Survivors include three sons, Charles Daniel Walter and wife Linda of Oglesby, Joe William Walter of Phoenix, Arizona, Jerry Wayne Nelson of Crawford; two daughters, Anita Jane Nelson and her boyfriend, Brad Stoker of Waxahachie, Janet Marie Watschke and husband Eric of Elkhorn, Wisconsin; two stepdaughters, Mildred Pack of Cameron, Evelyn Walter of Rockdale; eleven grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
