Dorothy Jo Humphries Muegge

A graveside service will be Wednesday, April 23 at 2pm at Davidson Cemetery in Mound, Texas with Rev. Ken Laney from Live Oak Baptist Church in Gatesville officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 22 from 6-8pm at Cole Funeral Home in McGregor.

Dorothy Jo was born July 12, 1929 in Oglesby, Texas to parents M.D. “Doc” and Lola Humphries. She lived in the Oglesby area most of her life. She graduated from Oglesby High School and received her nurses training at Coryell Memorial Hospital. She worked at the hospital for a while, then worked with Dr. Robertson in McGregor for many years.

Dorothy Jo loved to sew and was an excellent seamstress and quilter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Tommy Lee Herring, Barney Harrington and Eldon Muegge; 1 sister and 3 brothers.

She is survived by her brother Charles Humphries; son, Truman Herring and wife Judy of Moody, Texas; daughter, Sandra Oaks of Marion, Texas; 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
