Cecil Robert Walter

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 10am at Cole Funeral Home.

Cecil was born July 22, 1925 in McGregor to parents Jim and Ollie Walter. He was a truck driver for nearly 24 years and worked for the McLennan County Road and Bridge Dept for 18 years before retiring. On May 20, 1944, Cecil married Dorothy Luna and together they raised 5 children. Cecil was also a member of Harris Creek Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Louie Walter; sister Jimia Lee Ruff and daughter-in-law Linda Walter.

Cecil is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Dorothy Walter of McGregor; children, Tommy Walter and wife DiAnna of Navarro Mills, Ray Walter and wife Sandi of Gatesville, Dennis Walter and wife Donna of South Bosque , Vicki Byrd of McGregor, and Kathi Seat and husband Randy of China Spring; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sisters, Virginia Mudge and husband David of Santa Fe, TX, Mary Leard and husband Tom of Terrell, Louise White of Lorena; sister-in-law, Ima Walter of McGregor; brothers, Billy Joe Walter and wife Shirley of South Bosque and Arvis Walter and wife Jackie of Robinson.

Cecil’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Westview Manor Nursing Home in McGregor as well as Jaime, Jake and Angela of Bluebonnet Hospice for the outstanding care they provided to Cecil and the love shown toward his family.
