Bobbie Jean Fischgrabe of Moody passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family Tuesday morning, March 12, 2013, at the age of 80. She had fought COPD with continuous oxygen for almost 14 years. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Moody-Leon United Methodist Church under the direction of Cole Chapel, 304 Eighth Street, Moody with Rev. Greg Way and Rev. Don Johnson officiating. Viewing will commence at 10:00 A.M. Friday with a formal visitation from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at Cole Chapel.
Bobbie was born in rural Bell County September 27, 1932, the daughter of the late Hazel Hicks and Dois Phillips.
She attended school at Pendleton, McGregor and Moody. She was a proud graduate of the Moody class of 1949.
She married Otto Dale Fischgrabe on June 5, 1952. She worked as a secretary while he finished his senior year at Texas A&M. At his graduation she, along with other wives, was honored with a PHT, or ‘Putting Hubby Through’ Award.
She was an avid crafter and seamstress. She made the wedding dresses for a daughter and two daughters-in-law, along with the dresses for the bride’s attendants.
Also preceding her in death was a sister, LaDean Phillips.
She is survived by her husband, and daughter, Debra Long and husband, Karl of Alvarado, TX; son, Steve and wife, Debbie of Unionville, MO; son, Duane and wife, Melodi of Rogers, AR; son, Dennis and wife, Diane of Beulah, MI; and son, Dru and wife, Brenda of Hutchinson, MN., two brothers, Wendell Phillips, Jr. and wife Dee of Caddo Mills, Larry Phillips and wife Teresa of Rockwall; a sister, Mary Ansley and husband Richard of Murchinson. To her ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren she was Bebob. They are Kristi Long of Alvarado; Jon Long of Birmingham, AL; Jason Fischgrabe and wife, Gayle of Pea Ridge, AR; Becky Fischgrabe of Rogers, AR; Jessica Stidman and husband, David of Pea Ridge, AR; Matthew Fischgrabe of Huron, SD; Joel Fischgrabe of Unionville, MO; Katy Fischgrabe of Minneapolis, MN; Jaime Augeson of Morgan, MN; and Jodie Michelson of Plymouth, MN. Also surviving are four great grandchildren, Riley, Peyton, Rylan and Jackson.
