Billie Lou Howard

Billie Lou Howard, 105 of Jonesboro, Texas, formerly of McGregor went home to be with the Lord on December 14, 2023 in Gatesville, Texas. Funeral service will 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 18, 2023 at Cole Funeral Home with Reverend Matt Dossey officiating. Interment will follow in McGregor Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1:00 -2:00 p.m. Monday, December 18, 2023 at the funeral home.

Billie was born on June 11, 1918 to Ples and Lucy (Johnson) Morrison on Brown’s Ranch in McGregor, Texas. She attended school in McGregor, TX. Billie was a charter member of College Avenue Baptist Church. Billie married the love her life, Olan Howard on March 14, 1936 in McGregor, TX. Billie made her home in Jonesboro, TX since 1999 and was an active member of Jonesboro Baptist Church. Billie enjoyed sewing, camping, reading and gardening. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and all her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Olan Howard, daughter, Linda McCorkle, son-in-law, Wade McCorkle, grandson, Allen McCorkle, great-grandson, Matthew McCorkle, sisters, and her much loved cat, Sophie.

Survivors include her son, Robert Howard and wife, Wanda of Jonesboro, TX, daughter, Susie Woods and husband, Jerry (Joe) of Spring, TX; grandchildren: La Juanna Flournoy, Brenda Burkes, Rick McCorkle, Randy McCorkle, Teresa Johnson, Terry Woods and Tammy Edmonds, and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Jonesboro Baptist Church.
