Betty Stanford Richter

Betty Stanford Richter of Lorena, died Friday afternoon, November 23, 2012, at the age of 76. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at Zion Lutheran Church, 503 S. Tyler St. McGregor, Texas with Pastor Walter Klockers officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Clifton under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, 1113 West Fifth St. McGregor. Viewing will commence at 10:00 A.M. Monday with a formal visitation from 6 to 8 P.M. at Cole Funeral Home.

Mrs. Richter was born July 19, 1936, in Clifton, Texas, the daughter of the late Lee Arthur and Hulda Allene (Wagner) Larson where she was a 1956 graduate of Clifton High School. On July 5, 1958, she married W.D. Stanford at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clifton. After thirty-four years of marriage, he preceded her in death May 25, 1993. On January 16, 1999, she married Elroy Otto Richter at Zion Lutheran Church in McGregor.

For several years she was employed by Meridian State Bank as a teller. In 1970 she moved to Lorena from Waco and was a teacher’s aid at Lorena ISD for about fifteen years before her 1997 retirement.

Betty was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in McGregor. She was a person who enjoyed being around people and visiting and helping them in any way she could. She enjoyed playing dominos and being with her children and grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Pamela Stanford and a sister Janette Jenson.

Survivors include a son, Tommy Stanford of Waco; two daughters, Debbie Sims and husband Greg of Lorena, Rene Groppe and husband Gerald of Robinson; two brothers, Kenneth Larson and wife Carolyn of De Soto, Richard Larson and wife Catherine of Austin and five grandchildren.
