Annie Pearl Oliver

Annie (Ann) P. Richards Oliver born January 23, 1933, in Waco, Texas, to Ervin S. and Roberta Dell Richards. She graduated from Waco High School in 1950, Baylor University in 1953, and from TCU in 1971 with a Master's degree in Education.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marvin Edward Oliver, and 3 sisters, Alma Ruth Beall, Juanita June Skinner, and Mary Lott.

She is survived by her 3 children: Philip Oliver and wife Jan of Waco, Philis Oliver of Jonesboro, Georgia, and Pherel Oliver and wife Lee of Opelika, Alabama. She is also survived by her 4 grandchildren: Matthew Oliver and wife Megan, April May and husband Jeremy, Paige Oliver, and Justin Turner along with 6 great-grandchildren: Elisha Oliver, Jameson, Remington, and Adelynn May, Bella Mackey, and Brooklyn Oliver.

Ann retired from teaching after 35 years in Fort Worth ISD where she was named Teacher of the Year in 1976 and Outstanding Retiring Teacher in 1988. She loved music and contributed much in various churches, civic organizations and Alzheimer’s facilities. She and Marvin served as short term missionaries to American Samoa, Alaska, Australia, and Pompano Beach, Florida, serving in both teaching and musical capacities. She and Marvin were extreme Baylor alums and fans and loved watching the Baylor Bears play anytime they could.

She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church, Woodway. Since she and Marvin joined there in 2008, she was active in Bible Studies, a Ladies Prayer Group, and accompanist for various services and events. She also volunteered to do the music at Senior Care of Hewitt every Wednesday morning and tremendously enjoyed participating in the Baylor Senior Choir. She answered phones in the church office at FBC Woodway every Friday afternoon when she was in town. She was also quite the entertainer and encourager as “Rainbow” the Clown when she visited hospitals and nursing homes.

She has been playing the piano since she was four years old and continued to bless all around until her final days here on earth. She played for the Waco High School Chorus all four years of high school as well as the Downtown Rotary Club for four years. She played on Saturday mornings for the religious program, “Story in Song” on KWTX for six years and was the accompanist at several churches in Waco, Ft. Worth, and in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.

She moved to Lynridge of Waco Assisted Living and Memory Care in February of 2023 where she met many new friends and enjoyed playing the piano for chapel most Sunday mornings and during the week. We would like to thank and recognize the staff of Lynridge for their friendship and all their awesome care of her, especially during the past few months. Also, we would like to thank her additional caregivers with Right at Home over many months and Bluebonnet Hospice over the past couple of weeks.

Ann was a loving daughter, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend but most of all she was dedicated to sharing her faith in Christ by her many acts of service. We are so grateful she is now without any pain and in the presence of her Lord and enjoying the company of all those family and friends who have gone before her. We look forward to the day we will all be together again.

Ann's celebration of life service will be at Cole Funeral Home in McGregor on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 10:00 am. She will have a private family burial at the Central Texas State Veteran's Cemetery in Killeen on Friday, Oct. 4. In lieu of flowers, Ann requested that contributions be made In her name to the mission fund at First Baptist Church Woodway or your local church.
