Mrs. Willie Pearl Hunt, age 99 of McDonough, Georgia passed away June 24, 2020. She was born in Porterdale, Georgia to the late Willie B. and Clara Francis Blankenship Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Houston Hunt, Jr.; daughter, Willene Hunt-Davis; brother, Horace Jackson Smith; grandson, Mark J. Hunt; great-grandson, Steven Rahn; grandson-in-law, Matthew O'Quinn and brother-in-law, Jack Gibbs. Willie was a graduate of Porterdale High School. During WWII, she would travel everyday from Porterdale to Marietta to work in the Bell Bombers Plant installing ball turret gunnery housings on B-17 and B-29 bombers. She was a member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, where she was the church secretary for many years. She loved her church family and Happy Hearts, when she was able to attend. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women. For many years, she was a bookkeeper for the Lance Corporation, known to keep the books perfectly to the penny. She loved reading her daily devotional, making ceramics, and watching Fox News. Her nickname was "Blondie" and was known by family and friends for making delicious Christmas cookies and the love for her family. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Reginald and DeeDee Hunt of McDonough; sister, Sybil Gibbs of Covington; grandchildren, Cindy Davis Rahn and her husband, Glen of Hiram, Melissa Davis Huey and her husband, Tim of Temple, Patty Davis Durrett and her husband, Phillip of Hiram, Kyle Hunt and his wife, Jenny of Atlanta and Lauren Hunt-O'Quinn of McDonough; seven great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to be made to Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, 992 Mt. Bethel Rd., McDonough, GA 30252 or Southern Grace Hospice, 80 Candler Rd., McDonough, GA 30253 in memory of Mrs. Hunt.
