She was born on August 16, 1937, in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Tommie Lee Wood and Radford Lamar Wood. She was married to Marvin Eugene Gray for 52 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She worked for the Federal Government for 38 years and 8 months. She was an empress fund cashier and had the responsibility of balancing the safe daily.
Proceeded in death by her brothers Felton Sikes and Lamar Wood. She is survived by her brother Dr. Gary Wood, daughters Darlene Guida (Vinny), Rhonda Collins (Billy) and Myra Gray; four grandchildren Zack Collins, Ashleigh Collins, Cameron Guida and Jena Guida (Will) and five great grandchildren Hunter Collins, AvaKate and Steel Guida, Adelynne and Brooklynn Collins along with nieces and special cousins.

1. Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) disease – it is a genetic disease that can cause tumors (benign or malignant): to develop in up to 10 different organs throughout a patient’s life- Shirley’s youngest brother and his family have been affected by this disease.
