Robert "Bob" Michael Donaldson Sr.

Robert "Bob" Michael Donaldson Sr., age 84 passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024 in Locust Grove, GA. He was born in Richmond, VA to the late Thomas and Nelva Donaldson. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son James Treavor Donaldson.

Mr. Donaldson is survived by his wife of 51 years Mary Louise Donaldson; children Thomas Jay (Sue) Donaldson, Robert Michael (Heather) Donaldson Jr., Margaret Lynn (Jeff) Bateman, and Catherine "Kaki" Michelle (Lance Crowe) Downing; grandchildren Robert Michael Donaldson III, Emma Faith Donaldson, Megan (Chet) Powell, Zachary (Julia) Donaldson, Drew Downing, Brock Downing, Katie Bateman, and Conner Bateman; great-grandchildren Luca Downing, Liam Downing, and Maverick Powell; as well as many nieces, nephews, and beloved family members.

Bob was in the US Marine Corps from 1958 to 1963. He served at the US embassy in Laos and the Philippines. He was a member of the Henry County Leathernecks of the Marine Corps League Detachment 1339 in McDonough, GA where he was junior vice commandant and the 2015 marine of the year. He was also an active member in Major Stephen W. Pless Detachment 1196 of the Marine Corps League in Griffin, GA.

Bob had been employed as vice president of sales at DAP, INC in Tifton, OH and at Geocel Corporation in Elkhart, IN. He was a member of Jodeco Road United Methodist Church, of the home team and co-fundraising chair of Griffiths Ministry in Kenya, and of the fundraising chair of Sun City Toys for Tots Charity Golf Tournament in 2020 and 2021. Bob was not only involved in the community but very much with his family that he loved dearly. He had a wonderful sense of humor and many friends. Bob's biggest interests in life were his family, friends, the US Marine Corps, and Notre Dame.
