Mr. Richard Steve Reagan, Sr., age 80 of Locust Grove, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2020, loving husband of 12 years to Sherran Ridgeway Reagan. He was born in Stockbridge, GA to the late Joseph and Irene Reagan. As a young man, Richard worked for the Ford Motor Company in Atlanta. He was ultimately drawn to the construction industry working with his father and relatives where he learned to master most aspects of the trade from framing to electrical work. Richard became a recognized, true craftsman in the drywall industry for over 40 years and he treated every project as his new masterpiece. He even patented a tool for transforming drywall into customized finishes. He also held a certification in commercial refrigeration. Every family member benefited from his talents as he was always at the ready to assist with any home project. Most importantly, Richard was a man of God. He served as an associate pastor in the Church of God of Prophecy in Atlanta, and he was appointed as the Ohio State Evangelist where he evangelized to dozens of churches in the 1970’s. He was a continuous learner, and an avid reader of the Word. Richard sought a deeper understanding of the Scripture and was firm in his understanding often mentoring other ministers, family and friends. Richard graduated from the Bible Institute of Cleveland, Tennessee, and attended Kent State University while in Ohio. As an adult while living in Florida, Richard actually returned to high school to earn his full academic diploma. Richard was a talented musician and loved playing his Fender guitar for hours with his cousins Grady and Kenneth. He studied music theory as a young man and he wrote lyrics and music and even copyrighted a song. He enjoyed playing and listening to gospel music and especially found great solace over the past few months raising his arms and singing along in praise of the Lord. Richard had a special place in his heart for all animals and wouldn't even step on a spider. He found great joy in presence of his dogs and cats and was known by local animal control officials to protect animals in his community where ever he lived. He often took abandoned and injured animals in his home and nursed them back to health. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Joanne (Tom) LaMonde of Fayetteville, Rick (Michelle) Reagan, Jr. of Snellville, and Stephanie (Phil) Ruffin of Barnesville; step-sons; Tony (Marie) Crowe of Ball Ground, and Philip Hay of Massillon, OH; grandchildren: Stephen Ruffin, Brittany Taylor, Cory LaMonde, Jonathan Reagan, and Emily Shook; step-grandchildren: Elan Jarvis and Sarah Elrod; six great grand children and six step-great grandchildren; siblings: Joyce Moseley of Stockbridge, Roy Reagan of Flovilla, and Clifford Reagan of New Jersey; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings: Annie Jo Reagan, Brenda Sue Reagan, and Inez Hobby. The family will receive friends at Haisten Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 from 6:00PM - 8:00PM. A private funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2020 with Dr. Ron Hamm officiating. Burial will follow at Stockbridge City Cemetery. He will be greatly missed as a husband, father, and friend, but we are all comforted knowing he is in the embrace of his Lord and Savior Jesus.
