Nancy Williams Clarke, 76, of McDonough, Ga., passed away on Monday, April 9, 2018, following a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Nancy was born to Earnest and Anna Williams in Washington, D.C., on August 20, 1941. She was a 1959 graduate of Clearwater High School, Clearwater, Fla., and attended Wesleyan College in Macon, Ga., where she graduated in 1963 with a degree in history.
Nancy taught history at Jonesboro High School for one year. Fluent in sign language, she worked as a teaching assistant for hearing impaired students at McDonough Middle School and with 2nd graders at Wesley Lakes Elementary for several years. She also worked in a McDonough flower shop for many years.
Nancy was a devoted "Scout" mom and band booster parent for many years. In her spare time she enjoyed antiquing and had a large collection of dolls (especially Barbies), glassware and toys. She was known for buying seemingly worthless things at garage sales and selling them at a much higher price to antique dealers. She loved to travel and was very social, playing bridge for many years. She especially enjoyed playing games with her family. Nancy was a wonderful wife and mother who treated everyone with a grace and style all her own.
Nancy is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Ned Clarke; two sons, Wyatt (Elizabeth) Clarke of Georgia and Dan (Tracie) Clarke of Maryland; five grandchildren; a sister, Laura Bernard of Texas; and one niece.
