Mrs. Myra Charlene Stephens Alexander, age 46 of Locust Grove, Georgia passed away December 20, 2016. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Charles Edward and Myra June Greenwood Stephens. She was preceded in death by a sister, Sandy Love. Charlene was a member of the Locust Grove United Methodist Church and owned and operated Charlene Alexander CPA. Charlene Alexander had over 25 years of experience in the accounting industry. She was raised in Locust Grove, Georgia but spent a short time during later adolescent years in Conyers, Georgia. Charlene entered the accounting environment at the early age of 14 as a receptionist for her Mother's accounting firm, Myra Stephens Accounting, located in Henry County. Her talents were quickly recognized and, by the time of high school graduation, she had already obtained the status of full charge bookkeeper and income tax preparation specialist. Charlene was a 1995 graduate of Clayton State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration/Accounting, and she passed the rigorous 16-hour CPA state examination immediately after earning her college degree. Charlene obtained her CPA required field hours under the employment of James E. Warren, CPA, PC (Conyers, GA) and while in that employ earned the status of Senior Accountant/Auditor for the firm. Charlene felt that private company experience was equally important for her career development and spent two final years employed as the Controller for a large corporation that spanned several states and had multi-millions in annual revenue volume. Charlene went into sole practice in the year 2000 in Henry County. Charlene had always strived to be much more than your traditional accountant. She went beyond counting and reporting by reaching clients on a more personal one-to-one approach. Her techniques and skills allow clients to gain more insight to effectively manage their business and personal financial goals. As a result of her many years of experience and education, Charlene's knowledge and qualities spans across many industries. Some of her specialty accounting areas includes such industries as real estate, construction, wholesale & retail distribution, manufacturing, medical, and personal service. Charlene was also a Certified QuickBooks Advisor and had had experience using and training others to use this popular accounting software package since 1990. In the area of income tax law, Charlene was the local expert. She was well diversed in the applicable code sections governing income tax filing from the personal filing levels to the corporate filing levels, as well as the specialty areas of estate and trust filing levels. Charlene was very active in her community on a personal level as well. She truly enjoyed Henry County, and loved the profession her talents so diligently served. Survivors include her children, Austin and Myra Anne Alexander; siblings, Mike (Vera) Stephens of Griffin, Ronnie Stephens of Kingsland and Anne Marie (Shayne) Little of Loganville.
