At the age of 16, Mildred met the love of her life on a blind date, Charles, a handsome Marine. They were married for the next 50 years until he passed away. She often spoke of how she prayed for six children and God blessed her with six children. Most of all, Mildred loved and adored her family...they were her world.
Mildred loved family game nights and enjoyed dancing and listening to music. She treated everyone like family. Her smile was contagious and her hugs were even better. She had so much love in her heart.
Mildred had a long-standing relationship with God and she was a faithful servant of Community Out Team, the outreach ministries of Community Bible Church. She was known as “Mom” to many in the homeless community. Mildred is preceded in death by her husband Charles Russell Grether, Jr., parents Daniel and Nellie Mooring, her sister Edna Ruth and her brothers Roy, William and Carl. This gentle, loving, caring, wonderful woman has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be missed by her sisters, Vivian Jones and Mary Duzan; her six children, Wanda Fick (& Larry Sr.), Wayne Grether, Glenn Grether (& Pat), Debbie Burt, Pam Miczuga and Karen Nielsen (& Paul); her 16 grandchildren; her 35 great grandchildren and her 5 great great grandchildren. Mildred will also be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. All are welcome for Visitation to take place at Haisten Funeral Home, 1745 S. Zack Hinton Parkway in McDonough, Georgia (770-914-8833) on Friday, May 22 from 10:00 am – Noon. Please bring your own mask for safety reasons. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to the Alzheimer's Association in Atlanta, Georgia. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate Mildred's life and find comfort that she is in heaven. Well done, thy good and faithful servant.
