Michael Edward Reid

Officer Michael Edward Reid, age 45 of McDonough, Georgia passed away March 24, 2017. He was born in Mobile, Alabama to Judith Ann Middleton Reid and the late John Edward Reid. Mike graduated from Satsuma High School, Class of 1989. He worked for the Henry County Police Department for 18 years and was a parishioner of Abiding Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hampton. Mike was active in the Boy Scouts and enjoyed camping with his son. He loved spending time with his family at the beach, traveling, watching TV and was an avid Alabama Roll Tide fan. Survivors include his wife of nearly 19 years, Becky Reid; son, Josh Reid; daughter, Kristian Reid of Mobile, AL; grandchildren, Jerome Cooper, Jr. and Sunny Cooper; mother, Judy Reid of Satsuma, AL; sisters, Debbie (Joe) Ching of Semmes, AL and Michelle Reid of Satsuma, AL; brother in law and sister in law, Mary and Larry Atkinson of Eatonton; niece, Lindsey Atkinson; cousin, Jonathan Harrison of New Orleans. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2017 – 4:00 PM at Abiding Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5510 Hwy. 212 N., Covington, Georgia 30016 with Pastor Jonathan Scharf and Pastor Benjamin Steenbock as Celebrants. Friends may visit the family Tuesday from 2:00 – 4:00 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be made to the Henry County Police Benevolent Fund, c/o Sgt. Cassandra Shannon, 108 S. Zack Hinton Pkwy., McDonough, Georgia 30253 in memory of Officer Michael Edward Reid.
