Michael McGroarty

Mr. Michael Patrick McGroarty, 68, of Locust Grove, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on November 3, 2022. He was born August 9, 1954 in Tokyo, Japan to the late James A. McGroarty and Margaret M. McGroarty. Mr. McGroarty attended Newberry College where he earned All-American Honors as an offensive lineman for the Newberry football team. After earning his degree, Mr. McGroarty worked for Oscar Meyer, General Mills and ConAgra Signature Meats. His favorite hobbies included golfing, fishing and hunting. Following his retirement, Mr. McGroarty joined the Ringgold Masonic Lodge where he served as the Grand Master of the chapter. He also volunteered his time as an assistant football coach at Griffin High School and at Carver Road Middle School. Mr. McGroarty was a loving and devoted husband, father and grand-father. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Lyn Daniell McGroarty; his son Ryan Patrick McGroarty and wife Carolin and children Vivian Johanna and James Otto; his daughter Kelly McGroarty Calhoun and husband Andrew and child Dylan Patrick; his sister Mary Elizabeth McGroarty.
