Michael “Mike” Kevin Delay, age 50, of Jackson, Georgia passed away on January 10, 2021, after a battle with COVID-19. Mike was born in Atlanta, Georgia to Ralph Michael and Phyllis Delay. He was a graduate of Jonesboro High School.
Mike was a wonderful husband, father, colleague, and dear friend. He lived life to the fullest and never left room for an ill word to be spoken about him. He served this community for many years through his job with Henry County Parks and Recreation and most recently with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office. He was a man of great accomplishment, ethics, integrity, and public service; a simple man that loved life and a good laugh. Above all, he will be remembered as a great provider and protector for his family.
As an avid sports fan, Mike would often be found on the field as a coach, or an umpire, at all of his children’s sporting events. He loved the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets! In addition to being a sports fan, Mike also enjoyed spending time on the beach and camping with his family.
He leaves behind his beloved Wife, Stephanie Stevens Delay; Daughters, Leeanna Tweed and Jordan Delay; Son, Logan Tweed; Granddaughter, Braelyn; Mother, Phyllis Delay; Brother and Sister In Law, Ray and Michele Parker; Sisters, Staci Delay and Kelli Scott; Mother and Father In Law, Stanley and Frankie Stevens; his pups, Olive Elizabeth, Honey Pot, and Byrdie Lou; several extended family members and a host of friends. His father, Ralph Michael Delay, preceded him in death.
A service to celebrate Mike’s life will be held at a later date. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Caring For A Cause in Mike’s honor. Visit www.caringforacause.love or view the CFAC Facebook for more details and ways to give.
