Martha Alaine Dodd

Martha Alaine Dodd, age 75 passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Piedmont Henry Hospital in Stockbridge, GA. Alaine was born on May 22, 1942 in Waverly, TN to Wayne and Stella Smith. Alaine married James E. Dodd of Waverly, TN on October 22, 1958 and moved to Jackson, GA in 1967. Alaine was loved by so many. She drove the school bus for Monroe Academy and was known for her homemade cakes and pies. She loved cooking and enjoyed spending holidays with her family. Alaine was a faithful member of the McDonough Church of Christ. Preceding her in death were her parents, Wayne and Stella Smith, niece, Kelly Scurlock and nephew, Austin Scurlock all from Waverly, TN. She is survived by her husband, James E. Dodd of Jackson, GA; daughters, Tina Welch (Kirk) of Jackson and Tracie Dunn (Jesse) of Zebulon, GA; brother, Iran Smith (Sherry) of Jackson, TN; sisters, Shirley Agent (Mark) of Hendersonville, TN and Debbie Scurlock (Max) of Waverly, TN; six grandchildren, Stephanie Hawkins of McDonough, GA, Rachel Campbell (George) of Greenville, SC, Eric Welch of Denver, CO, Luke Dalton of Cumming, GA, Isabella and Layton Dunn of Zebulon, GA; one great granddaughter, Faith Hawkins of McDonough, GA. Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 17, 2017 – 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Rev. Iran Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in the Jackson City Cemetery.
