Mrs. Margaret "Jean" Vaughn, age 88 of McDonough, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2020, devoted wife of 34 years to the late James Henry Vaughn, Sr., U.S. Army (RET). Mrs. Vaughn was born in Lawrenceville, GA to the late Howard and Mattie Bailey. Jean worked for American Mills Manufacturing in Quality Control for 20 years before retiring. She attended Abundant Life Church in Jackson, GA, and more recently Life in the Spirit Church in McDonough. She was a secretary and accountant for Abundant Life as well. Mrs. Vaughn served as president in the Women's Ministry, and loved to travel with her women's group. She volunteered with numerous facilities including; Sacred Journey Hospice, Sylvan Grove Hospital in Jackson, GA, and prison ministry for 20 years. Jean loved spending time with her family, gardening, and reading her bible. Mrs. Vaughn is survived by her daughters: Sandra Lynn Vaughn of McDonough, Delbra Vaughn Martin (Chris) of Columbus, and Connie Vaughn White (Ronnie) of Albany; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; siblings: Clara Stephens (Thomas) of Union City, Margie Smith of McDonough, JoAnne Hensley (Dewey) of McDonough, Joe Bailey (Joyce) of Conyers, and Winfred Bailey (Joy) of Gainesville. She is predeceased by her beloved son: James Henry Vaughn, Jr.; and siblings: D.H. Bailey, Cecil Bailey, Charles Bailey, Jim Bailey. Annie Lee Johnson, and Louise Hardin. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home on Monday, January 20, 2020, at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at Ft. Benning Cemetery in Columbus, GA at a later date.
