Margaret Catherine Hodges shined her special light on everyone she met. Her hugs were legendary, her enthusiasm contagious, and her love unconditional. Although Margaret was taken from this world on March 5, 2016, at just 22 years of age, she left an impact on the many people whose lives she touched. In the days since her passing, the common themes have been her beautiful smile, her infectious laughter, and her ability to make each person feel like they were the most loved person in the room. Her mentor “Art Judy” said it best, “Her light is so strong, it lights up the rest of us.” All those who knew Margaret would agree. 2 Corinthians 4:6-11
Margaret was born in Atlanta, moved to McDonough at age two, and in 2005, the family moved to College Park, Georgia. She entered Woodward Academy in the second grade and graduated in 2011. She attended the University of Notre Dame where she received a degree in psychology in 2015, and then enrolled in the graduate program for Art Therapy at Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville. The director of the art therapy program shared that “Margaret was the light of the program”, a sentiment echoed in years past by all of her professors.Margaret loved music, dancing, and painting. Her bubbly personality and bright smile endeared her to friends of all ages and walks of life.
