Lorm Choquette, a devoted wife, loving mother, and champion of family, passed away on April 6, 2024. Born in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand on July 30, 1973, Lorm was the daughter of Sawat Jongpimai and Nong Chuchart. Her upbringing in Surin, Thailand, surrounded by her extended family, instilled in her a profound appreciation for the bonds of kinship and the warmth of hospitality.
In 2001, Lorm's path intersected with Gary Choquette's in Bangkok, Thailand, marking the beginning of a beautiful love story. Their relationship was tested when Gary had a motorcycle accident in 2002, leaving him alone and in need of care. Without hesitation, Lorm came to his aid, nurturing him back to health and forging a deep connection that would shape their future.
In 2003, Lorm and Gary embarked on a journey to reunite Lorm with her beloved children, who were living with relatives in Chantaburi at the time. Their reunion not only mended the family's physical distance but also strengthened the bonds of love and unity that held them together. Settling in Bangkok, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and togetherness.
As a family, they embarked on numerous adventures, exploring the scenic wonders of Prachuap Kirikan and indulging in weekly trips to the beautiful beaches of Hua Hin. Lorm's passion for hospitality shone brightly when Pepe and Meme visited the family, leading to an unforgettable journey to Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. Lorm's warm and welcoming nature ensured that their guests experienced the true essence of Thai culture and the richness of family connections.
In subsequent years, Lorm's mother, Nong, recognizing the stability Lorm had achieved, encouraged her to reconnect with her long-lost sisters, Toom and Ga, who were living in the South of Thailand. With open arms and loving hearts, they all came together, creating a home filled with love, support, and shared dreams.
Education held a special place in Lorm's heart, and she worked tirelessly to ensure that all the children in her extended family received the best opportunities. With Gary's unwavering support, the family embarked on countless journeys together, empowering the younger generation to pursue their dreams. Together, they embarked on family trips, building memories and deepening their bonds.
In 2005, Lorm and Gary traveled to the United States to celebrate Gary’s brother Jack's wedding and share in the joy of family Christmas. Their love for family knew no bounds, as they arranged for the children to obtain their own visas, allowing them to explore a new world and forge connections with Gary's side of the family. The family's adventures continued as they visited Pepe, Meme, and Gary's siblings, creating lasting memories and strengthening the ties that bound them together.
Lorm's caring nature extended beyond her immediate family. She played a pivotal role in ensuring the happiness and well-being of her siblings, arranging Toom's marriage and her relocation to England, where Toom and her husband began a new chapter in life alongside their children. Lorm's presence was a beacon of love and support as she proudly stood as the main guest at Ga's wedding, ensuring that Ga felt the warmth of family on her special day.
Never forgetting her roots, Lorm remained a devoted supporter of her remaining family in Surin, where her youngest sister lovingly cared for their mother and stepfather. Her selflessness knew no bounds, and she dedicated herself to providing love, support, and stability to those she held dear.
Lorm's spirituality was deeply rooted in her Buddhist faith. She exemplified her beliefs through her generous patronage of Buddhism, personally contributing to the construction of a house of worship in a Buddhist temple in Chantaburi. Her actions spoke volumes about her commitment to compassion and selflessness.
Recognizing the importance of education and cultural exchange, aside from making sure that her sister’s children had the education they deserved, Lorm also orchestrated opportunities for the children to study abroad in the United States, with the gracious support of Gary's sister Rose, who welcomed them with open arms. Lorm's sacrifices as a mother and her unwavering dedication to her children's future embodied the essence of motherhood and love.
Following their travels, Lorm and Gary embraced new chapters in life, living in Singapore, Korea, Germany, and finally settling in California. Despite the severe challenges of cultural shock and language barrier, Lorm’s resilience shone through as she took it all in stride, bringing joy and love wherever she went. It was there that Lorm's passion for gardening began to blossom, as she nurtured life in her beautiful garden, finding solace and joy in the simple pleasures of nature. Eventually, the couple made Georgia their home, where Lorm's spirit remained until her untimely passing.
Lorm Choquette's legacy is one of love, family, and hospitality. Her unwavering commitment to her loved ones, her generosity of spirit, and her nurturing nature will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
