I loved uncle Julian actually he was my favorite uncle. When I was very young he came to stay with us in Raleigh MS. He was great fun and loved to tease me and Harold!
When I moved to Atlanta many years later he was always there for me. We used to jog together and once he arranged for me to have a helicopter ride over Atlanta with one of his buddies at the APD.
I wish I could have spent more time with him during his last days and will always regret that that didn’t happen.

Our cousin, Jim Melton, shared with me, by way of Bill Dudley, the sad news of the passing of Julian. Julian and Shirley were two of the sweetest people in the world. I have fond memories of the last Ethridge/Hogan family reunion spent visiting with them in 2007.
Shirley's mother Byrdie was so special to my father James Ethridge. She was only eleven years older than him, but helped care for him after the death of their mother Ida Magnolia Hogan Ethridge in 1925.
