Johnny Lloyd Griffith, age 82, of McDonough, Georgia was a man who never met a stranger. Johnny loved having lunch and ice cream with his Sunday school class and always kept a gospel tract in his pocket.
Johnny was an incredibly hard worker until the very end. He wore two uniforms in the service of his country, first for the United States Army from 1957 to 1958 and then for the U.S. Navy from 1958 until 1962 serving aboard the USS Dyess. After his time in the military Johnny would wear many hats. He sold insurance, built bridges all over the country and then ironically would work in demolition. He drove trucks for many years and in the end he worked as a construction safety manager for Henry County. Working close to home allowed him the ability to have lunch each day with his wife and Andy Griffith (their dog not the actor).
Johnny collected Hess trucks and old model cars. He could also be counted on to make a fashion statement since he wore his cowboy boots everywhere he went, including the beach or the pool. Johnny also made a point to match his shirt to his wife Anne's. He figured if he needed to look for her in a crowd and couldn't remember what she was wearing, his own shirt would remind him.
Johnny loved all of his family and on September 20, 2021 he was greeted in Heaven by his parents JT and Lena Mae Griffith, son Chris Jones, brothers Greer Griffith and Don Griffith and his beloved wife Anne who had only arrived eight days earlier. Those left to share his memories, legacy and wisdom are his children Julia (Robbie) Branham, Angela (Bill) Lorette, Kelli (Brent) Moody, Joel Griffith and beloved daughter in law Desiree Jones. Johnny is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren along with his brother Jesse (Milinda) Griffith.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday September 27, 2021 at Henry Baptist Church.
