John "Jackie" Taylor, age 64, of McDonough, Georgia passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024. He was born on April 10, 1960 in Gainesville, GA to the late Jack and Lydia Taylor. Jackie graduated from Forest Park High School in 1978 where he excelled in soccer and football and held the record for the longest field goal of 52 yards for over 20 years. He was a natural athlete and an avid sports fan, especially Georgia Tech and the Atlanta Braves. Jackie enjoyed playing darts, horseshoes, cornhole and softball. He spent much of his time hunting, fishing and loving his family. He was employed with AAA Cooper trucking for almost 36 years. Jackie attended Cornerstone Bible Church for over 30 years and he was a member of Henry County Moose Lodge. Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of 42 years, Robin Taylor, his mother-in-law, June DeFoor, children, Ashley Taylor (Jay) Monday of Mesa, AZ and Byron "Rusty" Hand of Florida, grandchildren, Matthew Ryan Little, Jr., Mason Odell Little, Byron Ross Hand, Whitney Kate Myers and Merritt Grace Hand, siblings: Karen Taylor (Dr. Michael) Bartell, Annette Taylor (Guy) Burrell, Debbie Taylor (Jimmy) Davis, KimTaylor (Rick) Graham and David (Angie) Taylor and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 11:00am to 2:00pm. A Celebration of Life for Jackie will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at Haisten Funerals & Cremations, 1745 Zack Hinton Parkway, McDonough, GA 30253.
