John Samuel Bassett

Mr. John Samuel Bassett, age 70 passed away April 20, 2021. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia to the late John Owen and Marian Arsula Taylor Bassett. Johnny was retired after 35 years with Local Union 72. He enjoyed NASCAR, hot rods and hunting. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Paula Bassett of Oxford, GA; children, Melissa (Mike) Ruckart of Murfreesboro, TN, Jerry (Valerie) Bassett of Wetumpka, AL and Melanie (Scott) Brewster of LaGrange, GA; grandchildren, Kristin Craven of VA, Ashley Bailey and Brittany Powell both of Wetumpka, AL, Bradley Weaver, Malachi Weaver and Harley Brewster all of LaGrange, GA; great grandchildren, Conner Craven, Aubree Craven, Cayson Bailey, Camdyn Bailey, Cayde Bailey and Waylon Powell; siblings, Thomas Owen Bassett of Douglasville, Brenda (Stan) Moser of Sharpsburg, Deborah (Riley) Hudgins of AL and Jan Bassett of Locust Grove, GA. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 25, 2021 - 2:00 PM in the Haisten Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Don Davis officiating. Friends may visit the family Sunday from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM prior to the service. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Jonesboro at 3:30 PM.
