Jack Dale Brassell, age 89, of McDonough, Georgia passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024 with his family by his side. Jack was born in Gibson, Georgia on January 12, 1935 to the late William and Sallie Brassell. He was the eighth of nine children.
Jack was a graduate of Gibson High School. He also received his Civil Engineering degree from Southern Technical Institute. He went on to work for the Georgia DOT for 34 years and was a member of the Georgia National Guard.
Jack was married to Miriam Willison Brassell for over 47 years. In 1969 they moved to Tucker, where they raised their son David. Many lifelong friends were made there, especially at First Baptist Tucker. Jack and Miriam retired to McDonough in 1999. He enjoyed being a member of his church, tending to his tree farm, working in the yard, garden, and on any kind of project, and spending time with friends and family.
In addition to his parents Jack is preceded in death by seven of his siblings and his wife, Miriam. Survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. David and Helga Brassell of McDonough; granddaughter, Hannah Brassell of McDonough; brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Donna Brassell of Gibson; as well as many nieces, nephews and their children and grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family would like to ask that donations be made in Jack's memory to the Turner Methodist Church in McDonough, Georgia.
A visitation for Jack will be Friday, April 19, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Haisten Funerals and Cremations, 1745 Zack Hinton Parkway S. McDonough, Georgia 30253. His celebration of life will be Friday, April 19, 2024 at 12:00 PM in the Haisten chapel. A committal service will immediately follow at the Sharon Church Cemetery.
