Henry Gibson Edwards

Mr. Henry Gibson Edwards, age 85, of Jackson, GA passed away August 17, 2016. Mr. Edwards was born in Thompson, Ga the son of the late Mary Ruth McCorkle Edwards and Hubert Gibson Edwards. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Carroll Edwards, a daughter, Melba Taylor; grandchild, Michael Taylor and a sister, Corrine. Mr. Edwards served his country in the US Navy Seabees from 1950 – 1954 during the Korean War. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing football in the Navy, hunting, fishing, watching western movies, and being a devout republican. Survivors are his children, Daphne Ray of Jackson; and Preston Edwards (Jane Espy) of McDonough; grandchildren, Curtis Ray, Timmy Ray, David Ray, Amber Guy, Keith Taylor, and Miranda Espy; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Larry Edwards; sisters, Joyce, Rita, Brenda Faye, Linda and Norma. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday night from 5 – 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be on Sunday, August 21, 2016 – 2:00 PM in the chapel of Haisten funeral Home. Interment will follow at College Park Cemetery.
