George Stovall Moore Jr.

Mr. George Stovall Moore, Jr., age 87, of McDonough, GA passed away June 9, 2015. Mr. Moore was born in Bowman, GA the son of the late Mina Almond Moore and George Stovall Moore, Sr. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Camille Moore and a son, George Stovall Moore III. Mr. Moore was a member of First Baptist Church of McDonough where he was also a member of the Bob Chick Sunday School Class. He served his country in the US Navy and was a graduate of Emory University. Mr. Moore enjoyed spending time with family and friends, gardening, sports, and wood working. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Senior Golfers Association of Atlanta. Survivors are his loving wife of 63 years, Carolyn Payne Moore of McDonough; children, Kimberly Moore of McDonough, Steven Moore (Kathy) of Fayetteville, David Moore (Sharon) of McDonough; daughter-in-law, Kathy Spencer (Tracy) of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, George Stovall Moore IV (Christy) of Birmingham, AL, Emily Mullins (Ryan) of Indianapolis, IN, Jonathan Moore of Columbus, GA, Laura Robinson (Will) of LaGrange, Jacob Moore of Fayetteville, Meredith Moore of McDonough and Macy Moore of McDonough; great grandchildren, Madelyn and Ada Moore; niece, Jaye Goddard (George) of Kennesaw, GA; nephews, Gawyn Mitchell (Dawn) of Columbus, MS, Billy Mitchell (Sheryl) of Monroe, GA, Clay Mitchell of Monroe, GA. Funeral service for Mr. Moore will be on Friday, June 19, 2015 – 11:00 AM in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, June 18, 2015 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. Interment will be at the Bowman City Cemetery in Bowman, GA at 4:00 PM.
