Frankie Pettit, age 85 of Hartwell GA, formerly of Normal IL, originally of Oxford AL died in her home in McDonough GA after an extended illness. She passed with her family and hospice care around her. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life service Friday, July 14, 2017 – 11:00 AM at Flippen United Methodist Church, 3707 Jodeco Road McDonough GA 30253. Reverend Ken Huff will officiate. Mrs. Pettit was born at home in Oxford AL the eldest child of Fred Carl and Jeanette Hinton. She was raised in Oxford AL, graduating Calhoun County High class of 1950. After graduation she accepted a position with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington DC. While living in DC, she later was employed at DuPont as a personal secretary, where she met her future husband Chester Pettit. They married in 1957 and relocated to Southern California. They live in Southern California 12 years raising their two children, Michael and Kathryn. 1972 brought a moved to Normal IL where she worked at Brokaw Hospital and as a personal secretary at Illinois Wesleyan University. She retired with her husband Chet to the lake in Hartwell GA in 1992, where she enjoyed retirement and lake life. Frankie was an avid scrabble player, lover of crossword puzzles, and books. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed doing taxes throughout her adult life. She was raised a Baptist but later attended the Methodist church. She loved the Lord God and had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Preceded in death her parents, husband, Chester, and son, Michael. She is survived by daughter Kathryn (Keith), brother, Jimmy (Judy), sister, Judy. Three grandsons, Andrew, Jacob, and Samuel, she loved dearly and her nieces and nephews. Frankie fought against the abuse and neglect of animals, for this, we ask in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Hart County Humane Society in Hartwell GA or Henry County Humane Society, McDonough GA. Arrangements are under the direction of Haisten Funeral Home of McDonough.
