He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wynelle Cannon; his sons Donald Foy (Shannon) Cannon of Hampton and Michael Hugh (April) Cannon of Bosier City, Louisiana; granddaughters Lauren (Ryan) Webber of Hampton, Leslie Renee (Edward) Davis of Hampton, Crystal Mooradion of Hampton, Sara Kaitlin Cannon of Las Colinas, Texas, Brittany Lee (Austin) Parker of Cumming, Zophie Wynelle Cannon of Bossier City, LA; grandson Michael J.P. Cannon of Bossier City, LA; three great-grandsons Riley, Evan and Zachary; three great-granddaughters Emily, Adalyn and Bellamy; five sisters Clarice (Bobby) Harrison, Wanda (David) Vinson, Suzanne (Donald) Chambers, Sheila (Mark) Simpson, Lisa (Tommy) Arnold; and two brothers Myron Ussery and Dwayne (Jacqueline) Ussery.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Eunice Cannon Ussery; father John Lander Cannon; step-father Fate Ussery; and brothers John Ira Cannon and Michael Ussery.
Mr. Cannon came to Atlanta in the year 1956 and worked for the General Assembly in 9th through 12th grades with Mr. Joe Boone, representative from Wilkinson County. He recorded the laws passed by the house. After graduation from Wilkinson County High School, he was employed by the federal government with the Department of the Army as a civilian in the world of computers and advanced over the years to retire in July of 1993 as a GM14. He then went to work for Digicon Corporation in 1996 and retired in 2001. In 2001 he began a 16 year career as a part-time cashier for Publix in McDonough.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, January 22, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3355 Hwy. 155 ., Stockbridge, GA 30281 on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 1:00 PM. With Bishop Jordan Ford officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in McDonough.
